The LORD was with Joseph so that he prospered, and he lived in the house of his Egyptian master. When his master saw that the LORD was with him and that the LORD gave him success in everything he did, Joseph found favor in his eyes and became his attendant. Potiphar put him in charge of his household, and he entrusted to his care everything he owned. From the time he put him in charge of his household and of all that he owned, the LORD blessed the household of the Egyptian because of Joseph. The blessing of the LORD was on everything Potiphar had, both in the house and in the field. — Genesis 39:2-5 <NIV>

 Joseph Summary

God had given Joseph a vision of his future as ruler over his brothers. Instead of quietly praising God, he boasted to his family about what God had revealed to him. His youthful pride was fuel to the fire of the envy that was already simmering among his brothers. Certainly God was able to elevate Joseph to rule over Egypt without him having to be sold as a slave, or thrown into prison on a false charge. But strife within Joseph’s family opened the door for Satan to come in and try to mess it all up.

In the end, Joseph’s faithfulness paid off in a big way. Whatever situation he found himself, God’s favor surrounded him and Joseph was promoted. When Joseph had the opportunity to go before Pharaoh, he gave all the credit to God. Pharaoh heard God’s wisdom through Joseph and immediately knew that he was the only man capable of saving Egypt from the coming famine. Pharaoh promoted Joseph and fulfilled God’s promise that he would be a great ruler. Joseph’s brothers meant him evil, but God made it all good for Joseph, his family and all of ancient Egypt.

But Joseph replied, “Don’t be afraid of me. Am I God, that I can punish you? You intended to harm me, but God intended it all for good. He brought me to this position so I could save the lives of many people. — Genesis 50:19-20 <NLT>

One formerly free site now charges for their content. Those links have been removed. All the other links seem to be working as of today. Keep in mind the Internet is constantly changing – websites come and go, and links change at the whim of the webmaster. I thank you for pointing out the problem.
